PS/2 to USB IPAC4
« on: April 16, 2005, 12:59:26 pm »
I have a friend who wants to sell me a PS/2 version of the IPAC4.  Would a PS/2 to USB converter work with it?  I want to plug it into the front of my comp instead of the rear.  Its more of a convienence thing really.
Anyways, If anyone knows the answer to my question, Thanks.

Yes, any type of conversion will work because the ipac detects the mode it's in and switches automatically.  I emailed Andy the same question, asking him If I could just splice my own cables and the answer is yes.

If you don't already own the converter, why don't you just E-mail Andy and see if he will sell you just the USB cable for it.

(I've had bad luck with my QVS PS/2-->USB converter.  Works okay for keyboarding (which is what I use it for (with a PS/2 Keywiz), but it would suck if I used the keyboard for gaming).  Not sure if the I-PAC would have the same problems.

Another option is to get a six-foot M/M PS/2 extension cable and plug the I-PAC into that and hot-swap it, which is what I do with the KeyWiz.

I think I'm going to ask for just the cable from Andy, Ill see how it goes price-wise.  Just because it's much easier than splicing and FINDING the connectors for the price that you can get one pre-made.
