Happ "Heavy Duty Analog Trigger Joystick"

Hi. I was wondering if anybody is familiar with the Happ Heavy Duty Analog Trigger Joystick. I basically am interested in it because of the Star Wars Trilogy Game that uses that type of stick. I want to know if anybody has heard anything about it or has it and can give a review. Secondly, and more imprtantly, I wanted to know how you mount and wire this specific model because it is not listed in Project Arcade or any other internet sources I have seen. I also wanted to know what the potentiometers, thumb buttons, and UCGI things were that you see on Happ's page on this product, especially why the prices differ so much according to those specs. Thanks.

I've got an "Analog Joystick w/ Trigger Handle".
That's the one I've seen on the Trilogy machines around here.
They may have been put on aftermarket though.

The Happ's is a huge improvement over a PC stick.

It has a mounting plate on it.
You just cut a hole for the bottom of the stick, and rout the mounting plate in flush on the CP; or you can bottom mount it to a metal CP.

Wiring is a breeze.
Just get an AKI from Dave, or an A-Pac from Ultimarc.

I don't know what's up with the pricing on Happ's page.
USUALLY the thumb buttons add $11 ea. to the cost.
The UCGI is their analog interface, and is ALOT more expensive than the two I mentioned above.

Did you get the PC version with the 100k pots?  I'm unclear if it's needed if you use an A-PAC...

Also, even when removing the UGCI from the mix this solution is very expensive ( > $250).  What do you guys suggest that may cost a little less and still work fairly well?

Oh yeah, and if common answer is to use a standard pc joystick, is there a particular model that's best to work with and has a good feel?

Every PC stick I've ever used feels cheap by comparison to the Happ's sticks--including some high-end Saiteks.

The best solution I've found is to be patient on ebay, and watch for sticks to come up there.

You can get the PC (100k) version, but you'll need a gameport to hook it to, and those are getting harder to find with USB support growing.

If you get the arcade (5k) version, an AKI or A-pac will finish it off.

I was never happy with my PC sticks, so I wouldn't recommend that route for anyone else.
If price is your only concern, then there are some good, cheap ones on the market.
I can't really recommend what will feel best for you though.
I am partial to the Saiteks; and even their lower priced ones usually feel better to ME than some higher priced sticks.
