Things I still need to do before preparing to paint.

Order some more wood for the back panels and attach with T-nuts. (8mm MDF)
Install volume control (pot) on dashboard.
Fix some rough areas. (Coin door hole and some damage on the bottom from moving it. Other little stuff.)
Make speaker grill for speakers under marquee

I like the way you are bolting down the control panel to the base of the cabinet.  I rigged up some latching clamps but I know if I were to try to sit on the front of the control panel, it would all come tumbling down.  Your cabinet is looking great!

Hmmmm...."Bacon is tasty".....I think I am finally starting to figure out this Bacon fascination.

I also have some of those case type clips which hold down my dashboard. They hold it down well and are pretty sturdy but I don't think they alone would be up to the task of holding down a CP.

My design produces a lot of overhang on the control panel box so I really wanted to make it secure. Four people thrashing the controls is bound to load things up a bit.

I printed one of my marquee designs on standard paper at a medium resolution to test for appearances. The image is not mounted and sandwiched as per the method, it is just held in place with sticky tape.

I believe the black background (when eventually printed on suitable paper), will be black, not this horrible shade of grey I am viewing at the moment. As all the lines and colours appear dirty and without vivid definition, this exercise achieved pretty much nothing.

I think I will just have to keep working on my idea and submit my final design to the printer and hope for the best. I don

Tomorrow I will order some more wood for the back panels. Given the choice I would prefer to leave this entire section open but with 2 small kids I just can't take the risk that curious fingers will end up inside.

Everything I read suggests that intake and exhaust fans are the way to go, but I am thinking due to the colossal size of Project Bones that this will not be required. (You really have to see it in the flesh to appreciate its size.)

After some extensive wind tunnel testing and numerous discussions with the Jet Propulsion Laboratory, I have decided to use the method as indicated in my diagram.

I have some spare Lexan I originally cut for the monitor glass which I will incorporate into the design. The angled section at the bottom will not be covered but rather there will be an overlapping of the wood and Lexan leaving a substantial but hidden gap that is still child safe. My hope is that cooler air will be drawn in through here and the super heated gas dispersed out the top through a gap. I would explain the thermodynamics in terms of a mathematical equation but I don't think anybody here would understand.

I will use the same size MDF as the Lexan which is 8mm although I haven't checked the availability of this material as yet.

The MDF and Lexan will both be retained with T-nuts.

The brochure there says they're optional.  That means they don't come on the base model.  I think Bones is going with another option package that don't have the spots as an option in it.  Shame.  I think Mrs Bones would like the camo look for that new outfit I heard she's gonna sport at the unveiling.

Hey, throw an air vent cover on the top of there.  That'll let it cool down.  If not, it looks like you could fit a nice 20"  box fan inside there to get the air moving.

I wanted to install a floor in the cabinet. The screws that hold the casters in place were making like difficult. I have lost count how many times these screws have magically found their way into the opening of my anus and I was sick of the continued invasion. I also knew these protruding screws would probably get in the way when it comes to mount stuff inside later.

Why are you going to mount stuff inside there?

Line the bottom with rubber or set a window sill planter box in there first if you go that route.  Wouldn't want the water to damage all that hard work.

Saturday night update.

Minor works today although I did get a few things crossed off my list.

I attached the runners on the back of the cabinet for the back panels. I used 4x2 for this for two reasons, I had the spare wood and I hoped these big bits of wood would make it easier to hammer the T-nuts into place. The three wooden panels & Lexan sheet that make the back section were attached to check the fitting but have now been removed for painting. The next time they are put back on my cabinet will be finished.

When attaching the runners, I aligned the end of the wood so I could attach a thin light panel that now blocks just about all the stray light from the marquee. Any light that now gets through will be concealed by the monitor bezel.

There is a gap that allows airflow from the marquee and monitor area and my hope is that this will be enough ventilation to not have to use additional fans.

I also installed the support floorboard today and filled a few holes with putty.

Tomorrow I will try and finish everything else except the dashboard.

Finally, the view that matters.

The extra hole above the volume control is from termites. I may take advantage of this hole and mount some type of system indicator light.

Then again I might just fill it with putty.
