Act Labs USB light guns... PC or TV?
« on: April 13, 2005, 11:23:08 pm »
I'm trying to figure out what kind of Act Labs light guns to get.

PC or TV.

I currently have a MAME cabinet with a standard res arcade monitor but I may "upgrade" to a Gells Gardner D9200 in the near future.

As I understand it, a standard res arcade monitor is pretty much a TV without a tuner.  And the D9200 is pretty much a specialized PC monitor that does arcade refresh rates.

I'm confused.  Which guns should I get?

The difference isn't so much in the monitor, as the signal type.  If you're using S-video, you need the TV gun.  If you're using VGA, you need the PC gun.

It actually WON'T work thru a jpac, as it uses composite sync.

Use a avga card and the video amp modified to use seperate syncs as show on this page.
