My concerns with nplayers.ini are similar to Sirp's.  We don't accept submissions without proof of their accuracy so when you see an entry in controls.dat you are assured that the data is as accurate as possible, sans the occasional typo or other human error. 

It might not mean anything to anyone else but to me I like to be assured that data is done accurately and not buy a single guy who means well but often makes errors because he doesn't research his data.  I'm not saying this is the case of nplayers.ini, but seeing as they don't have a database or anything showing the method of their data collection, no one can be sure.
