Happs Trackball Optics is not working
« on: April 09, 2005, 03:13:28 pm »
Hi guys/gals,

Sadly it looks like my optics board on my Happ trackball has died.

I was playing centipede and then noticed that the vertical was not working correctly, exited mame and tested it in windows, the horisontal was working but the vertical was stuttering and would only move in one direction.

Anyway after testing the other optic board I fond out that it looks like it is the optics board so I leant a multimeter off a mate but I don't know how to use it to test the board.

If it is the board could I just make one instead of buying one from happs.  Looking at the optic board oscar made for the model 2 it seems simple enough to make just wanted to know what the resister was for and which type it is.

Thanks for any help regarding the multimeter and how to use it and if you have any info regarding making your own optics board.

Thanks

Andy

It's a long shot, but perhaps either your IR emitter or receiver has some dirt on it? Try swabbing them with some water or alcohol.
Good luck!
