Arcade cabinets in New Zealand
« on: November 18, 2002, 12:52:25 am »
I finally got aroud to buying myself an arcade cabinet so now I can get started on my super duper arcade machine project (after several super duper arcade control panel projects I feel I am ready)

For anyone who is interested I got a lowback cabinet, 2 x 26 inch tubes and 2 x 26 inch tube electronics bits for $NZ 370 (about $US 150). One of the tubes is old and crappy and burnt in, the other one is looks pretty damn good.

The cabinet itself is a generic yum-cha 2 player 6 button jobbie, so I will feel no guilt as I slice and dice it. Thinking of a 4 player, 4 button per player CP for some shadow over mystara action

But the hilight of the whole experence was that the guy I bought it off, he had an upright starwars cab in absolutely fantastic condition. This thing was PERFECT, no scratches, no chips, sideart looked like it had just come out of the factory. If this thing had ever been "on site" I would be surprised.

Hmmm, no point to this post. Just had to tell someone. The missus thinks im mad.

lol i have 4 more weeks before i get back to nz and start building my cab ........ ordered parts at start of year then got a job overseas which put cab on hold  :'(

i've got 2 other cabs at home but dont want to hack them up as they were gifts ...... so have to build the third so i can play games that require more than 3 buttons :)

i was gonna go the same route as u and use a proper arcade monitor, but after accidently sticking my finger in the hole of the monitor with the big WARNING ELECTRIC SHOCK sticker over it, when trying to change from horizontal to vertical, i decided i liked having feeling in my arm and am going to use a tv ;D
