Need NJ Help with original console Ms. Pacman
« on: April 03, 2005, 10:16:36 pm »
:o I was just given an original Ms. Pacman console by Midway by a relative that had it some 15 years.  It worked fine for 3 days with my kids loving it, then the screen blanked out.  Can still hear game play though.  This also happened at her house before and I just jiggled the door switch and the video had come back.  Now I cant seem to get video back.  Any NJ hobbyists willing to take a look at or can recommend someone in NJ West Orange area?  Thanks for referral or help.

I know a great guy in the Toms River area who restores & sells classic arcade games for a living. Two or three days a week he's at his second space in Marlboro, if that helps at all. If you're interested PM me for his email address.

There's a guy who sells and repairs games right on Springfield Ave in the Maplewood/Irvington area but I can't think of the damn name.I work in Union so I'll check tomorrow and get back to you. This place would be ideal as it is fairly close to you. Stay tuned..

I know this is not a MS. PAC-MAN

But i bought a HOGAN'S ALLEY last week.

And you could hear the game, But no picture on it also

Come to find out with much testing. Ended up being a bad monitor.

I hope this is not your case.

Maybe it is something simple?

well the fact that he can hear it indicates teh game is playing blind.  It definitely has something to do with the monitor.  It could either be a bad connection to the monitor, possibly loose/cut/missing wires, or a bad monitor itself.

Since he says it's happened before, and he coudl "jiggle" it to work... I'd look for loose connections first.  Try to reseat anything you can and just generally check the wires and connections.  Otherwise, maybe that "jiggle" was just luck and the monitor actually went out this time...  I'm far from a pro, but these are the first things I think of.
