Ipac problem ...
« on: April 01, 2005, 05:07:30 pm »
Hi,

My Ipac died  >:( ... no keyboard recognised ... if I connect the keyboard directly to PC it works ...

Any thoughts ? Should I buy a new one (this one worked  very few times) ? Any tests that I can do ? Should the circuit replacement do ?

Thanks,

Jabba

Did you change any of the wiring?

There is a utility you can run to see what is happening.
Vids:  Home built MAME machine, Crystal Castles. Arkanoid
Pins:   Williams Aztec (working). Stern Nugent (not working...yet), Williams Phoenix (major not working, missing parts.... )

Always on the lookout for buying 90's game with Ramps that need work...

I've occasionally had problems with my KeyWiz where Windoze would try to install a driver for it and it didn't work.

Shot in the dark, but try to boot into safe mode, go to Windoze device manager and uninstall all the keyboards and then let Windoze re-detect the keyboard (make sure you have the main Windoze install disc first . . .)

I had some problems with breaking the solder joints on the keyboard connectors on my ipac. To see if this is the case, try to gently wiggle the connectors to see if they move around.

On mine, I could even get it working if I positioned the cables just rights. Once I realized the problem, I resoldered the connection.

The broken connection was to the tab on the case of the connector and I've had no trouble since.

Any other suggestions besides the ones already mentioned ?

HI guys,

I've already whipped myself thousands of times...
The problem was a token that was stucked on the coin door leaving the switch always on ... :-(
Now I have access to the keyboard and the buttons work, but only if the mame switch is selected. In "ALT" mode, when I try to reprogram, I always get the message "I-PAC is not connected"

Any ideas? I use a alternate configuration and I'm still stuck...

Note: I have another I-Pac (always good to have a spar) and the result is the same with the other board.

Thanks
