want to buy: japanese control panels
« on: April 01, 2005, 09:54:58 am »
Hello, I am interested in purchasing a japan style six button control panel for fighting games.

I am looking specifically for astro city panels, but if you have something similar then I would be interested in that too.

I don't care if it's a single or two player model, but I would prefer single.

Thanks.

Those are very nice.  Is that one in the bottom picture one of them with the astro city decals over it?  Or is it an original panel?

I'm waiting right now on two other people so I should know whether I'm gonna buy for sure in a week or so.  This looks like my best option though.

Richardp, I'll be home this saturday after 1:00 PM central time.  I can call you or you can call me and we can discuss this project.  Or I can call you whenever is convenient.

Paul, those are some nice looking custom panels.  I am curious though, wouldn't the sticks be to tall if you bolt through the platet?  Or did you have spacers on the underside to lower them a bit.  After all the originals have a special mounting plate for Seimeitsu style sticks.

the one on the bottom is original. i can sell you that one if you need. i have spare ones available. some people want to put their own spin on the cp so the metal one is another good option.

does the original one have anything to mount the joystick to underneath?

I actually want the astro city art.  I want as authentic as possible.

I am looking for a new panel for my Namco Cyberlead. It is 23 1/16 X 5 1/16 and looks to be the same shape. Here's a picture for reference. I am keeping the Midway 49 way sticks (hopefully I can find/make some balltops for them). I like the 6 button layout. Please PM or email me and let me know if you can do it and how much.

Thanks!

Erik

you know what my custom cps are about 24 3/4" * 5 1/16.  i cannot believe that it is bit too long, i thought most jap cabs have similar cp so they can be interchanged.  someone did not get the memo!!!

Wouldn't you know it! I think Namco used the difference in length for the plastic. It kind of builds up a little. I figured they'd be the same too. It also explains why it looks like your have a little more room on them.

Could you do a custom panel if I were to remove the panel and send you a tracing to use as a template? My panel has been hacked from a single player 3 button to the 2 player 6 button and I'd really like to replace it with something done nicely.

Also, any tips on repairing cracks in the plastic? I am thinking for maybe fiberglass repair kit for cars or something like that but thought I'd ask since you fix them up regularly.

Thanks!

You wouldn't happen to have an extra control panel made with a 7-button setup for an older style Neo 29, would ya? Here is a pic below of what the control panel looks like...

I prefer the Astro City panel.

Which panel is in the best shape?

I will mail your panel tomorrow.

Yea, it doesnt looks too hard to drill it. I have the bit. It would basically look like this below. I kinda wanted the arched buttons like on the Astro City, but this will do.

ohh sorry, my mistake.  I personally do not have any but my friend has red ones for sale at $11.00 plus ship. not sure if that was something you were interested in.  I can get you used ones at what ever color is available. just let me know. the red ones are brand new.

thanks

Hey there.  Would any of these cab CPs have enough real estate to hold a Ultimarc 2 1/4 inch trackball two joysticks with 6 buttons each?  The reason I ask is I live in Okazaki Japan.  I went into a local Game Center and asked to speak with the Manager.  I aksed if there were any empty cabinets for sale and he took me to a warehouse in the back of the arcade, streched out his hands and told me to take my pick, 20,000 yen with monitor.  I made a MAME machine a couple of years back and would love to put the guts into a Japanese cabinet.  It would save space and the wife would love me much more.  Anyway, if there is one that you know of that you could fit those components onto one of your CPs I would be interested.  Thanks ahead of time for your assistance.
