Wiring "Shift" function keys w/I-Pac
« on: March 31, 2005, 03:00:12 pm »
I'm having a bit of a senior moment and can't quite figure out the correct way to wire dedicated "shift" function buttons/switches (tilde, Esc, Pause, etc.) on a CP.

For example, to have a dedicated "Pause" button/switch would you split the wire coming from the NO terminal on the microswitch and connect one wire to the "Player 1" terminal on the I-Pac and other to the "1 Down" terminal?

My apologies for asking such a rudimentary question but the answer is eluding me at the moment.  ???

Thanks!

If you want a dedicated PAUSE button, you wire the button up to INPUT 8 or something, and then program your ipac so button 8 is pause.

The same deal if you want a dedicated i-pac shift key.. just wire it to any imput you don't normally use (like P1B8) and set it up in the WinIPAC utility that that key is the shift key and nothing esle.

Ahh, but he wants dedicated shift FUNCTIONS, not the key itself.  Otherwise, yeah youre right.

I think for the GPwiz or whatever its called, theres a cable he sells that splits one button into 2 inputs so you can use shift functions, but its not needed with an IPAC
