Do I need a sound amp for JAMMA Sound Output?
« on: March 30, 2005, 08:28:58 am »
I've got a Golden Tee Fore! 2004 Board that i'm going to be embedding in a CP with a power supply and Jrok's RGB->NTSC Converter.  This way, I can plug it in, and run an svideo cable from the panel to any TV (Including my 53" projection, I can't wait to get this working...).

I've got a question about the sound output, however.  Do I need an amp, or can I just wire the sound output from the jamma harness to RCA's?

Thanks in advance.

JAMMA convention is to go right to a speaker.

Awesome.  I didn't know they'd wire right to speakers.  I'm PSYCHED!

Thanks!

All JAMMA boards have built-in 10 to 12 watt RMS amplifiers. JAMMA standards have always been that way---the output goes directly to an 8 ohm speaker.

Original JAMMA standard was mono speaker on pins "L" and "10" of the JAMMA edge connector. Later in the mid 1990's JAMMA standard was revised for optional stereo speakers. In that case Pins "L" and "10" are the left speaker and Pins "M" and "11" are the right speaker.
