Audio Portion of Cab Build
« on: March 27, 2005, 09:54:50 pm »
I finishing up my first Cab build and I am now at the audio portion. I don't have a lot of audio experience so pardon my ignorance. I was wondering a basic audio card has line out do I just need a small amp to plug into that and then speakers to plug into the amp. Just wondering if it's that simple or if Im overlooking something? If there is a site or doc on the subject I'd love to be pointed in the right direction, thanks...

You should just be able to plug your speakers straight into your audio card, no amp needed.
You’re always in control of your behavior. Sometimes you just control yourself
in ways that you later wish you hadn’t

No, I mean if I buy speaker, not PC speakers. If I go to an audio store and just buy some 9" speakers to put in how do I connect those? I can't just wire them to a jack plug and plug them into the line out can I?

I know I could use PC speakers and just plug into the audio card but Im looking for better results as I will use this as a jukebox as well...

The single most common mame audio setup is a set of PC speakers taken apart and placed in the cabinet, or the small amp out of a cheapo PC speaker powering a pair of 5" speakers.

That is pretty much 100 percent arcade authentic for most games. Most games had one CHEAP speaker in them.

I usually do the cheapo PC speaker route, which is more than enough, heck, I usually only have the volume at like 10 percent.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Not much of a look?  The post has been there a day, with a reply already.  I'm moving this and merging the two.
