Software to draw plans ?
« on: November 13, 2002, 05:31:41 am »
Hello

What software can I use to draw plans of my Cab ?

I'd like to draw parts, assemble them and be able to change
their size to do some tests

Have any soft for me ?

Or if you did plans what soft did you use

Oh, and btw, I have to use cm not inches ;-)

Thank you

mravett

A lot of people use Visio.  It's relatively easy to use and you can easily switch from inches to centimeters.  However, it's only 2-d so you can't exactly "assemble" your pieces in 3d.

I do visio for things like Control Panel layouts, etc.  It's not a very good 3-d designer unfortunately, you typically need some sort of CAD program for that.  If you can't afford Visio though, this is a really good freeware program...

The concensus among people who draw plans for a living (architects, planners, etc.) is that if you're only going to do it once, its faster to draw with a pen.

It's only when you start to need to do lot's of changes that software has an advantage, but that's only after you have come down the big learning curves.

I use Adobe Illustrator, second only to my pencil.
