Legal stuff for my free plans?
« on: March 24, 2005, 11:28:26 pm »
I want to post a link to some cocktail cabinet plans I have drawn up.
Does anyone have any suitable legal words I can include with the plan documents to stop them being used for commerical gain and to make it clear that I'm not liable for what ever they are used for, etc, etc.

Anything else I should be careful of?

Put a big fat watermark across it and password protect the document with several variations of letters and numbers.

They may still sell your stuff, but at least they'll have to work to remove it to make any money off of you.

What format is it in, someone here can do it for you if you don't know how

Thanks.  I was intending to post them on my web site as a pdf.  I will format it in Word with a watermark and protect the pdf as much as possible with Acrobat.

You can already do those things in Acrobat, you don't have to format back to Word unless you really really want to.

Can you stick an animated gif in a PDF?

If so, set the main title logo to change to "If you paid money for this you were ripped off, this file will always be available for free" after about a minute or two.

If I was you, I'd release them under the creative commons license.  You can customise it to what you want.  (i.e. no commercial use, etc) Check out this link to find out more.  This is what you use to customise the license.
