DreamCast Controller Converter/Adapters for the PC
« on: November 12, 2002, 01:40:37 am »
Hi,

I've recently picked up a DreamCast Steering Wheel that support rummble. I was wondering if any one has or has been able to:

1. Purchase a device the converts the DC controller to work on the PC that supports both rumble and steering wheel support?

I understand that there is one such product in existence called the PC Magic Box, but it does not support rummble, and I'm not sure if it supports a DC steering wheel to be operated on a PC.

If anyone has details of any other DC controller converters/adapters for the PC, please reply to this post.

If anyone also knows of an support site, web address or contact details for the product PC Magic Box, please also let me know, as I wish to contact them directly to understand if they have a product (now or future) that meets my requirements.

2. Has any one designed, build a DC controller / adapter converter of their own to operate on a PC. Does it support rummble and a DC steering wheel? Please post any information that you're able to share.

Look forward to you response.

Kind Regards,

Dariusz

Snake: There is one adapter, which you appearently missed him talking about it in his post:
http://www.levelsix.com/products/pc/PCMagicBox.shtml

Dariusz: I don't have one so I don't know of the compatablity of it. The company that makes it is Hong-Kong based, so they're hard to get ahold of someone that speaks English well.(typically at least, not sure about this company)

I purchsed the MagicBox from level six not too long ago. It's a GREAT adaptor.  I've tried it out with Sony PS2 Dualshock2 gamepads, Sega Dreamcast Gamepads, and the Madcatz2 racing wheel for the DC.  They all work fine <-- not sure about the rumble though.  I haven't played with any PC games that use the rumble.

I've tried using DIGITAL PS1/2 gamepads and those failed.  I tried using my MAS DC sticks and those failed.  Aparently the MagicBox is only guranteed to work with ORIGINAL pads <-- basically any pad that's detected as a Dualshock or an original Sega DC pad will work on your PC.

Yeah it's a great adapter. 2 of my friends have the Magic Box. I don't really need it because I really only play fighting games on the PC and I have a PSX/PS2 to USB converter that I picked up from Radio Shack for about $7. I have 2 (the last ones they had). If you need that kind of converter its great and cheap. Thanx.
