  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
Control Panel
« on: March 17, 2005, 12:28:30 am »
I am ready to put all my controls in the cp.  I don't have a clue on how to wire all the stuff.  I do have the Arcade book but can't find any info on how to go about it.  This is what I have in my cp...

buttons for... exit, pause, 1player, 1player coin-up, 2player, 2player coin-up (all of these buttons are on the very top of the cp

3 happ comp joysticks.  2 at either side of the cp with 2 rows of 3 buttons and one to the lower left of the bottom row. The other joystick is in the middle upper section of the cp, this is the one at 4 way config.

1 spinner

1 happ 3" trackball with 2 buttons on the top of the trackball

1 keywiz keyboard encoder
1 hangstrong spinner/trackball encoder

What can I do for those games that ask to type OK to begin?

Any input is highly appreciated

Have you search the board.. wiring HAS been discussed before...

Doesn't your encoder come with some wiring diagrams or downloadable help in doing so?

This is what I have so far.  Now I'm ready to wire but would like some advice as how to proceed and how to configure everything.

Thanks

Should be pretty much self explantory.  When you do your wiring for the joys and microswitches, you will use the NO terminal and the ground terminal.  You can daisychain all your grounds and connect them to the ground terminal on the keywiz.  I don't have a keywiz so I'm not sure how it is labled, but it should pretty much say joy1 left, button 1 and so forth and your coins will be like button 5 and 6 possible, you can drop RandyT a line or someone here can be more in depth that owns one.  The wire you want to use is 22 gauge stranded and female quick disconnects, this makes life alot easier.  I'm not sure on the optical route, not sure what you have there.  Anyway, once you start doing it....very easy...

Ok, I've gone as far as connecting all the common wires together.  I am stuck with the ME4 and connecting to the happ trackball and spinner.  The trackball came with wires already attached.  The ME4 came with a wire hardness to connect to the trackball and the spinner.  Where do I attach these wires from the ME4 to the trackball?  Does it make a diff where I plug them to the trackball?
