first, what kind of ipac are you looking for?  second, have you thought about getting a minipac?  if you will only have two players, it's quite a deal.  good luck.

not sure.. someone on the main board is recommending a keywiz max... i'm open to listening to different choice... will only be going 2 player.. still deciding on how many buttons

keywiz is probably your cheapest (20 bucks) and a good option for two players, but the max is 35 bucks.  the minipac is for two players plus a trackball and spinner, i think, so at 30 bucks, it's a steal.  although one has to consider shipping, i'd still get the minipac for any two player setup just to have the option available to use a trackball or spinner.

which one of the minipacs would you recommend? if it comes with the wiring (which it looks like it does) that would rock..

minipac interfaces 2 players with 8 buttons each, and a trackball and spinner all at the same time.  the ipac just dows the two player bit...also, i'm a bit rusty on all this, so you'd have to double check with ultimarc for the actual number of inputs.  but the key difference is the trackball interface and spinner interface without having to buy an optipac.  also, they are smaller and cheaper.  lastly, right now the minipacs are all the same, so if you want the wiring harness, which i would recomend for a newb, it's gonna be 69 bucks plus shipping, but if you think you can handle the wiring, you can get the 39 dollar one without the wiring.  good luck.

heres the wiring diagram...

cept it looks like the forum scaled it down too much.  but for buttons, you get the start buttons and coin buttons for two players, as well as joystick and 8 buttons per player.  also, you get two mouse buttons, which you could also use for admin buttons.  if you do 7 buttons each player, you could have 4 extra for admin buttons.

For the joys that Ultimarc carries..... yes they are good prices. I word it that was because you will not find the joys that Ultimarc carries at HAPP or most other places (well maybe the JSTICK). The T-Stick Plus' are excellent sticks if you like the short throw and the ability to change 4way / 8 way mode from on top of the control panel. They feel a bit stiff by most peoples standards.

Check out their joys and see if there is something you like.

If you have questions on joys, this is a good time to ask.

Good time to ask eh?  I was going to buy 2 T-stik plusses because people always say how they hate this about their stick and buy another, and im on a short budget so I planned on just getting the all in one solution and routing a bit out of my panel so the throw is longer.  Is this a good idea?  Does anyone have any horror stories about the T-stik+ s?  I was also going to get an ipac2 but this seems like a much better deal to get the minipac, not to mention i already went shopping at radioshack for a few things and got some terminal strips so it just ends up saving me cash :D

Routing your panel isn't going to make the joystick's throw any longer.  The throw is going to be very short no matter.

Well it wont improve the throw, but it will raise the joystick, so it will end up being a little longer.

As a wise man once said on this board.. "your in the wrong hobby if you want to do things cheaply."

If you're looking for cheap, then you can purchase one of those 2/4/8 ways joysticks on ebay.

But I highly recommend the T-Slik plus.  Very durable.

I've actually got a set of these that have been performing great for about 8 months.

Similar feel to JSTICK

check out the retro blast reviews and weigh in.  Different sticks for different types of players and depending on what you think is appropriate.

I prefer WICO leafs and T-STicks (very different feel in both, but still love em).
