Bushings ? Where to get
« on: March 14, 2005, 03:53:06 am »
Hi guys,

I have got myself 2 old Atari 360 wheels I am building for my Cab.

On further inspection of these wheels, it seems that I am missing a bushing ? from the end of the plastic cone shape shaft. The one at the top seems to be there (Pictures attached) but I need a smaller version for the bottom.

Does anyone know where I can get these ? as there is a little too much play at the end at the optical wheel is hitting the sensor

Thanks

Arcadeshop used to carry rebuild kits for the old Atari/Key wheels, you might check with them.

What are they exactly called ? So maybe I can look elsewhere for someone who makes them.

Keep an eye on e-bay. There is a guy on there on a regular basis that sells the bushing kits for Atari steering wheels. I need three sets for my Super Sprint, but I haven't bought them yet. He doesn't have any up right now, but he will probably before too long.

btw, most people who sell them on ebay will sell direct outside of ebay if you contact them.

Saves them a few bucks on ebay charges... And he probably has a ton... just doesn't want to flood the auctions.

I have a link to the manufactures at home; I'll see if I can find it tonight.  If you have the arcade manual you can google for the part, but there's a one letter misspelling, IIRC.

Also, way back when I checked, there was either a $100 min or a 100 part min.  IIRC the parts were ~$2, so the mark up on ebay is resonable.

edit: remembered the name: "nyliner" bearings by Thomson Industries, but it doesn't look like it's a current product (I can't find it from their front page). :-\

Hi,

I found this site http://rubbersandballs.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=409

Have sent an email to see what happens. That Thomson site, I couldnt find them on there either.

There is also this site http://www.centsibleamusements.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWCATS&Category=226 but there is a $100 min order which rules that out, unless someone wants to buy them for me and Ill pay Paypal to their account =)

Thanks

just a quick question, what atari wheels are you talking about?  i've got a pole position wheel on it's way to me and might need one...

All I know it has an atari symbol in the middle on black plastic. I'm at work so I dont have a picture but its the plastic on plastics spinning type.

The shaft is made of plastic in the shape of a cone and an outside cone slips over it with 2 nyliners (1 at top 1 at bottom) to take up the play in the wheel. I am missing the 2 bottom ones.

I think they may be off a super sprint but not sure.

Edit:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13718&item=6161748338&rd=1&ssPageName=WD1V

Thats the wheel but its missing the shafts. http://www.centsibleamusements.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=390 This picture shows the outside cone that slips over the shaft with the 2 nyliners needed.
