Happ Controls Europe Ltd.
« on: March 08, 2005, 02:27:30 pm »
I've just been in contact with the sales guy from Happ Controls Europe Ltd, and I have the following news...

"Happ controls Europe Ltd has been shut down as we have merged with Suzo. You have to contact suzo to purchase Happ Control items..."

There is no information available on the Suzo UK site to this effect, so anyone trying to contact Happ Controls Europe Ltd. to place an order will be best served trying to contact Lee Sewell on lsewell@<NOSPAM>suzo.co.uk. (remove the nospam bit...)

I just hope that Suzo UK begins to communicate as well as Happ Control Europe has done in the past.

Yeah, I got a similar reply today after asking for a quote.

I hope that Suzo will be able to supply the same parts that Happ could.

Otherwise I can see me having to import from the US.

Hmm.......

I hope that Suzo will supply the same parts too...the control panels that I am in the middle of building will require Happ Black Pica Vinyl to cover them. If they don't supply that, I am up 5hit creek without a paddle...

My attempts to contact Suzo UK via email, both recently, and in the past, have always been ignored - I hope that now that the acquisition is complete, maybe that will improve - otherwise, I can see myself ordering direct from the US too.

I'll keep you posted...

Ill mail suzo tomorrow, see if we can clafify the situation any further.

If we need to buy from Happs US it may be more viable to get an order between us and/or others and spit the shipping rates depending on how costly it is.

I just feel bad for the staff at Happs Europe, it sounds like theve have all lost there jobs from the mail I received. I know at least Luke Williams lost his.

Ironic since almost nothing Happ's sells is made in the US.

I agree Donna Morrell was always very helpful

however they only seemed to be order takers...most stuff i ordered had to be sent to them from US and then forwarded...

Both Donna and Luke are/were very helpful.

Just had contact from Lee at Suzo UK...my order consisted of:

25 feet of Black 18mm smooth T-moulding
25 feet of Black Pica Vinyl 40" width

There is a 2-3 WEEK lead time on both items...I could swim across the Atlantic quicker...

Looks like it is Swallow Amusements for the T-moulding, and I will think of something else instead of the Pica Viny...ho, hum.

Silver, this is the mail I got from Luke:

Dear Mr Wood

It is with regret that I inform you that Happ Controls Europe is closing. From today we can no longer accept any further orders and will only be concentrating on fulfilling current back orders. I am no longer with the company and was made redundant yesterday but finish work today

Please direct all future enquiries to SUZO UK.

All back order enquiries should still be addressed here for the time being.

I would like to thank you, Mr Wood for your custom during the time we have been trading together and assure you of SUZO's commitment to providing you with continuing good service.

Kind regards

Luke Williams

Hope he's got sorted out with a new job.

ok, just for clarification, like paigeoliver said, if most of their product isn't made in the US anyways, why would it be there UK office that is shutting down, and if suzo will continue to provide happs merchendise to the UK, then why not the same thing over here?  i'm an engineer and not a buisness major, so i'm a bit lost.  does this mean the definite end of happ in the future?  or was the UK just not making enough money to continue?  i guess i'm a little fuzzy on the details.  Not like happ is our main provider, but we do recieve good service from happ through other companies, aka almost all of our stuff come  from happs, jut not directly.  so if anyone could clarify a bit, or not, since it's not too important.

Flinky, below is a snip from the Suzo/Happ merger, as detailed on the Breaking News section of the Suzo UK website...

"The North American business unit will conduct its affairs as Happ Controls, while the International business unit will conduct its affairs as Suzo International."

So it would appear business as usual for the US division, whilst the European division (UK), has been stopped and assimilated into Suzo International.

For all UK/Europe readers...my earlier post stating 2-3 weeks lead time on ordered products was, I am told, a worst case scenario. Suzo UK did say that they plan to place a big order with Happ UK weekly...

so in effect the UK happ sales department has closed and suzo has taken it's place, yet happ UK still exists, so that suzo can make orders from them in order to replace them.  am i following right?

You could always order online from Happs US and get them to ship - there order form supports international shipping (and you can choose economy if you want).

You may find that the savings in items (happsUK/suzo seemed to have hefty markup) and a strong
