ddr ram needed

I need DDR ram for my parent's computer. They have 256 installed right now. I'd like to get them to at least 512 and they have 2 slots, I figure another stick of 256 would do them well. I have a 4 port linksys router 3 months old in the box with all manuals and an ethernet cable for trade for it. Let me know. THANKS!

I have 256 megs of PC2100 ram and 512 of PC3200.

Is that a wired or wireless router?  You have any arcade parts for trade?

I have an old jamma harness, that i haven't looked at in a few months so I couldn't tell you much other than it's a fully working jamma harness, 3 or 4 button hook up i believe....
what were you looking for the ram?

I have a stick of kingston 256 pc2700 that was never used.

will that work with a different speed of ram like pc333 or whatever they threw in here? can you use ram of two different speeds together? if so it's a deal... talk to me on aol messenger

You can use 2 sticks of different speed ram, but it will run at the lower speed.  You also put yourself at risk of having issues, since in my experience, RAM can sometimes be very picky.  It's definitely possible to do though.

Your just asking for trouble with running 2 different speed chips.  All assorted conflicts can occur.  The chips will run at the lower speed, but why have a 2700 run at 2100?  Get a 512 stick, slap it in there and sell the 256.  BTW, make sure your motherboard can support the speed of the ram also.

My dragon MB is able to take 2700 ( so the manual said ) I could not even get windows installed.. Took a bit to track the problem down. switched to 2100 and all is well.  I agree with above eather sell the 256 and get a 512 or stay with the same speed you have.

I'll take 40.00 shipped for the stick of 512 mb pc3200 I have, its practically new, or I'll take 30.00 for the 256 but I would recommend just buying the 512 and pulling the other memory.

If you can find brand name (ie not generic) PC3200 ram at a better price, you should buy it.

first off, pc3200
second off, that crap thats 35 bucks is a joke.. 9 out of 10 come DOA
third, 40 bucks for a 512 stick, thats "decent" is a GOOD deal for someones "parents" computer..
Fourth, Dont even site ebay as reference, buying computer parts from ebay, is like playing russian roulette with your money..

unless you consider 5 bucks "alot of money"

now, im sure some bozzo would love to toss off some half burnt ram that fails mem tests for 20 bucks.. but youll get burned in the end..

i've never had a bad experience on ebay yet... just because you don't use ebay, doesn't mean that ebay is bad... you have to be smart when you use ebay...

Even if you are the most cautions and smart person when it comes to using eBay, your gonna get burnt sometime.  It is inevitable.  There are just some bad sellers/buyers out there and you just can't stop them from bidding on an auction.  Plus on the seller side, I've had people send stuff medial mail that arrived 6 wks later, even though I paid for priority.  It's sucks to get negative fdbk, even though you completed your end of the deal.  I've found that people here are pretty cool with selling/trading items, not to mention they will go out on a limb for ya or offer advice to steer you in the right direction.  Your not gonna get that on eBay!

when you buy on ebay or pricewatch, most of those parts are generic.  they usually breakdown or have driver conflicts.  if you don't mind the risk, go for it.

Pricewatch is not shady.  You simply need to check the resellerratings of the stores. Some of the STORES might be shady.. but Pricewatch is simply a search engine.

And why would we post about the router in this thread when you made a seperate thread for it?  Seems silly to have two.
