Trying to design a "different" kind of cab, please help!
« on: March 06, 2005, 03:45:00 pm »
Okay, so, i wanted to use the search, but i have no idea about what keywords to enter, so I'll just hope this is the first time this is being asked...

What I'm looking for is pretty weird (i think)... What i had in mind was a showcase style cab, but, i want it to be modular... I don't think anybody has built a modular showcase cab in here before, so i have nowhere to go to for plans or such... One thing that is very important to me is to be able to remove the CP stand completely off the machine, and connect 2 driving seats instead, because i am a big fan of driving games. In general, i just want it to be very easy to expand, without ruining the looks or functionality of the cab...
Now i know this is a bit too much to ask, but I'll love it if some of you guys can help me out with the design of the cab... I just don't seem to have too much talent when it comes to those things...
Any help will be appreciated, sorry if this is the stupidest post you've seen in BYOAC to date ;)...
I had a cool sig once... But it had to go because of *someone*... You know who you are!

Just make the monitor stand and the control panel completely separate units and then you can do whatever you want.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Erggg... I guess i havn't made enough sense...
Well, if it didn't work, i guess i'll just try again...
I was probably not specific enough so i'll try explaining exactly what i want...
I need help with two things, getting all the small things (like how do you connect the modules together? latches? if so, what kind?), and putting it into a physical change in the blueprints.

The base of my design is going to be the dynamo showcase cab dimensions from jakobud.com. I would love it if you guys would help me determine how to change the blueprints.

Hope i'm making sense this time...

I saw a game called 18 Wheeler or Trucker or something like that that had a "bench" that was used almost as if you were standing playing, but it could be used as a bench seat as well.

What about something like that?
You’re always in control of your behavior. Sometimes you just control yourself
in ways that you later wish you hadn’t

Well actually, the closest arcade to my house before i moved had those on almost half of the cabs, so ya, i have thought about it... But i can't settle for it replacing the car seat...
BTW, while imagining the cab with a tape measure in my hand (ya, i'm sick, ain't I?) i bumped into might be an annoying little problem with the driving seats - they're too low... You'd be looking up to the screen... Don't know how i would solve it without putting the seats on bricks...  :(
