problems using j-pac & i-pac2 together
« on: March 05, 2005, 05:17:04 am »
What is the best way to connect these two boards together?
Should l connect them both directly to the pc using the usb adaptors?
Or could l connect the j-pac to the keyboard ps2 port of pc , then keyboard ps2 of j-pac to the i-pac pc ps2 port ?
Anyway let me know whats the best way? .

Using 2 comp happs, 1 j-stick 4way, trackball and 2 mouse buttons with hacked mouse cable ps2, 7 button layout for players 1& 2 . l'll updated my web page with new photos,as soon as l get it working.

Problem:the J-pac is the older board version, and the I-pac2 is a new board version.
How do l setup both with the winpac program so that the ipac doesnt interfere with the j-pac setting?

Things l have connected to the J-pac:
l have players 1 & 2 joysticks running thru the j-pac with the seven button layout, players 1 & 2 start buttons as well.

Things connected to the i-pac :
Basically everything on top of the control panel-
the 4 way controller up top connected to players 2 slot of the i-pac, with the 2 white buttons on the right connected to buttons 1 & 2 of players 2 slot of the i-pac, the 2 yellow buttons are pause and exit butons and are connected to buttons 8 of the ipac players 1 & 2, and the 2 coin buttons beside the player 1 & 2 buttons are connected to the coins slots of the i-pac.

Problem is the 4 way joystick has the same inputs as the player 2 joystick :
up-r
down-f
left-d
right-g
button 1-a
button 2-s
How do l change this so they dont have the same settings?

l have tried with the program but l couldnt manage.
Please help

You can connect the boards in any combination using either USB or PS/2 via passthrough. So either method you mention will work.
What you will need to do is program the boards individually with the correct keycodes, then connect both boards.
Drop me an email if you need any further advice.

Dont worry guys, l worked it out.
Here's how l changed the the keycodes-
l used the i-pac interactive programming and test mode-Ctrl-Alt-p to activate it in notepad in windows and then just changed the keys accordingly.

in regards to connecting the j-pac to the i-pac -l connected the j-pac to the pc ps2 port, and then the i-pac thru to the ps2 keyboard connector of the j-pac., and of course the keyboard to the other ps2 port of the  i-pac

everything seems to work really well.
