Control Panel Button Layout
« on: March 01, 2005, 10:33:40 pm »
Hi all.

I'm building my arcade cabinet as we speak... it's a 4 player cabinet, pedestal unit.

I've done a lot of reading about button layout and I have a few questions:

1). I'm between a six and seven button layout like so:
(J is my joystick--just one, B are my buttons)

|J| B B B
|J| B B B

or

|J| B B B
|J| B B B

I prefer the 7 buttons over the 6 as it allows for the neogeo layout.  As for the button allocation - that is a matter of preference and configuration.  I think I have my default setting as

  4 5 6
  1 2 3
7

but for neogeo games
  2 3 4
1

But you need to play some of the games that you know the layout of the original games (SF, MK, NBA JAM) and see if the buttons correspond to your config.  The set up cfg files to suit the games.

actually, i do four buttons across the top and then three across the bottom so i don't have to change a bunch of controls.  so for numbering purposes...

here's a pic of the control panel too, haven't had any problems...
