Encoder for P360 stick
« on: March 01, 2005, 06:39:08 pm »
I have an X-Arcade encoder setup...give me crap if you want, but at the time I got a good deal on it, and I wasn't sure that I was gonna go this far with this project.  My first thought was to make a crappy one now and then make a better one later.  Now I realize that I'm just gonna have one, because the one doesn't get quite as much use as I wanted it to get.

MAIN POINT:
I bought a P360 joystick, and it isn't compatible with the X-Arcade encoder.  I read a review that said it was...but it isn't.  Does anyone know if the KeyWiz Eco unit is compatible with the P360?  I'm not looking to spend a whole lot more money on this setup, so I would prefer not to buy a whole other keyboard encoder, and beings how that is about 3/5 of the price in comparison...yeah.

If anyone knows another easy way to make this work, I'm sick of buying parts right now, because I just don't use it enough.  I would use it a little more for some fighting games if I had that controller to use, but that doesn't mean I want to spend a ton more money on it.  I have extra PS2 mice and an extra PS2 keyboard sitting around that I could rip apart if anyone can tell me if hacking them will work.  I already have a usb cable for the 5 volt that's needed, but that was off of dead MP3 player, not a mouse or anything useful at this point.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can drop a line.
The default personal text is is "I'm a llama!"???  I guess that makes me an emperor with a new a groove.

Open your x-arcade(while plugged in), and check with any multimeter if there's 5 volts between all pairs of directional contacts. If there is, unplug the controller, and now test for continuity between the 4 directional grounds. If that's good too, the P360 is compatible.
