can anyone here use an eprom burner?
« on: March 01, 2005, 03:39:22 pm »
Found this is my closet and my dad has my camera. I remember getting this from where I used to work 5+ years ago. If you can use it make me an offer.

Eprom writer:

Brand name is A.R.T
made in holland

has parallel cable hookup to computer and uses standard pc power cord.

Its a grey aluminum box about the size of a brick.

Has not other identifing marks other than instuctions in blue on the front.
Has green zif style socket  for 28 and 24 pin eproms.

Have no idea if you can use it and what its worth.

It worked when I got it and its been in my closet for years. No way to test it because I dont know how to burn an eprom and it has no lights on it. :(

Since you don't have any clue if it works or not, I can only offer 20 plus shipping.

(and I'm probally gonna have to beg software from the model 100 club.. :)  )

How can I test it. I would hope it was worth more than $20. Not really worth a trip to the post office for that...

I'd hit up the guy at this email address :

rick@club100 <nospam> .org

This is the only reference to the thing I could find on the web.

Ask if he would be kind enough to email you a copy of the software.

Then just grab a eprom off a board that the programmer supports.
(Just look at the top for supported eprom sizes)

Then try reading said chip.

If it reads it's a good indication that it will write.

as for the price, it's a old discontinued product, that can't do the really old stuff (2532's) and limited to 27512 max.

A new Willem EPROM Programmer is only 50 plus shipping.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4661&item=3877796026&rd=1

And it handles ALOT of devices..

(And actually after looking at the newer prices on the above programmer, I'll probally go for it instead, it's only 30 bucks more to do everything I have access to at the moment.)

The sad part is that I have 2 ISA eprom programmers stashed under the couch along with a pal programmer. Too old to use, and I haven't put together a computer old enough to run them in years.
