LED Driver Boards have arrived
« on: March 01, 2005, 12:58:21 am »
Hi All,

Just wanted to let you know that the LED Driver boards have arrived and I spent the evening soldering instead of watching 24.  The boards work great and are listed at www.gamecab.com.  You will also find product details listed there as well.  I have about 30 boards on hand and will order more based on the sales of this run.

Thanks
Charlie
The Flight Yoke Release date is September 10, 2005.

Charlie,

How long before the documentation will be ready? Not trying to rush ya, just curious.

I should have it ready by tonight.

One other note:  I have corrected the international shipping portion of the GameCab Website in order to provide a better shipping price for the UK.  The software I use for Ecommerce is not the best but I'm workig on it  ;D

Pretty cool.

Let me make sure I understand what this is exactly.  It's a device that makes it easier to hook up multiple LEDs (both flashing and always on) to a PC and to an IPAC to control the flashing LEDs, right?  You just need to be able to pull 5 volts from somewhere, right?  Do you pull the voltage from the main PC power or through the USB port?  I would love to be able to use the USB port and make by entire control panel plug-n-play but I've heard different stories on how well this works.

$18 + shipping?  Interesting......

If you do it right, you can use the USB port for power.

Power by USB option sounds like a good idea, I might give that a try too.

Gamecab,

Applause!! It's always nice when someone offers these sort of things to the community. Thanks!

I have a question as well. Is there *any* chance you could make a version of this board that mimics the "theoretical" functionality of the following project: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php/topic,15674.0.html  ??

I say theoretical because the developer of the project absolutely fell off the face of the planet, and stopped updating the board at 70% functionality.

I was considerring building a board with SOME of those functions - mine was going to offer 8 LEDs that you do whatever you want with and then 8 that go under your joysticks so when you press up on a joystick, a LED would light up, causing the illusion of an arrow lighting up on your CP -- but now Im stealing this thread.  BUY HIS BOARD :D

Hi Stu, It seems that I made the GameCab website "Burp" today, I then agrivated the problem to a larger level and had to take the site offline for 3 hours.  I'm happy to say that the website is back up and running but the international shipping problem still exists :-[ .  Send me an email and we can work out a direct Paypal shipment.  This will be the last time that I update my website software on a weekday (Lesson Learned).

Thanks
Charlie

Wait, I only bothered to read the last 2 messages... you had a pretty nifty yoke up on your site a few years ago, and a mailing list that I subscribed to for updates about it... must be pretty popular, seems everytime I go to order it, it's out of stock ;)

Sorry for the ribbing man... I'm sure you understand. *starts rummaging site for the byo yoke tutorial*

Oh, PS, I bought one of those led boards, so I'm not holding the yoke against you. I'm excited about the led board.

True true, but I wasnt really thinking like that, although if you dont go el-cheapo on the LEDs, superbrights only take up 20-30 mA each, so 30 * 8 = 340 mA.  Im pretty sure your USB port can handle up to 500mA as long as you dont use a hub.  Therefore, it should be fine, as long as you're not a retart about it and you make sure to check your motherboard :D
