Site updates / adopt-a-page
« on: February 27, 2005, 04:39:34 pm »
I'm still looking to revamp the site with a new look and feel. In the meantime, however, the content of the main site has gotten quite stale.

While work on updating the look/feel proceeds, I want to work on updating site content. Then, when a new look/feel is chosen, the updated content can simply be plugged into the new design. Because that has been and is likely to continue to take a while (if for no other reason than good web design isn't my forte), I don't want to wait on overhauling the content any longer.

I'm currently working on one page on powering the cabinet. You can see it at http://beta.arcadecontrols.com/cabinet-power.shtml. That will be a new page supplementing and partially replacing the wiring page.

At any rate, it's a big job to undertake. Several people have suggested and/or volunteered adopting a page on the site to update. That's a wonderful idea, and one I'm going to try now. You can see the details at http://beta.arcadecontrols.com/adoption.shtml.

If you'd like to help, please take a look, and thanks!

I think that's a good idea.  Should we post stuff here or *ahem* "follow the rules" and email you?

Heh. Either way I guess. Emailing me will get my attention on it sooner probably. :)

This may go without saying, but....

If the new pages are done in the most plain, boring HTML possible, you can then change the entire look of the site just by changing a stylesheet.

The Software page needs to be broken into subpages for jukeboxes, front ends, utilities, ROM Managers, etc.  I can adopt the Jukebox portion of that page, since I already include a list of jukeboxes at http://webpages.charter.net/celamantia/jukebox/, although it could stand an update with screenshots and a features matrix.
