Finally Got My Cabinet!!
« on: February 26, 2005, 11:19:09 pm »
This isnt the project announcement, but its just a hoot too be able to say I have the cabinet that will inevitably be turned into my MAME project.  Big thanks goes out to Fredster who had supplied me with this cabinet.  (Nice crib Fred!  Brother in Law almost came back to get a cab for himself.  Almost had him think he could strap one on top of mine.  lol. )

This is a showcase as you can see.  the monitor is dead (blimey) but I have a replacement 35" multisync production monitor.  The concept right now is to have two players, 7 buttons and two joysticks each.  A trackball in the front.  A spinner and a 4 way.  Fairly simple and hopfully it will be clean.  I will soon make an actual announcement with theme and some more details.  :)  Yay!

Why don't you try to fix that monitor???

Or at least throw a 8liners chassis on it to fix it?

Such a waste to just toss it.

Later,

I don't think 8liners has one for a 33.  But you might be able to send the chassis to Ken and get it fixed.  Ask around in the monitor/video forum.

lol.  Yeaht the Bears and cats in the pictures are collections of the wife.  Just a temp place for the cab when hauling it in.  The cabinet used to be a Crypt Killer cabinet, but the cabinet itself it a 33" Dynamo Showcase.

As for the monitor I have been told the following by the previous owner:

Quote
I fix a lot of monitors, and I don't think this one will live. I think the tube grid is gone, that's why I stripped it. The chassis has been overdriven.  Somebody was in there fiddling with it, and they jumpered it with wires underneath. Maybe a bad trace, but I don't think so.

I may see if I can send the chasis to Ken to hopefully repair.  As for now the monitor I am getting will allow me to hook my Xbox up as well.  But I will have to build a new monitor housing as the new monitor wont fit just yet.  Grrr.
