They look cool, but I prefer the feel of "Bat" style joysticks rather than "Ball" style joysticks. If a "Bat" variety comes along, I'd be very stoked about that. :)

Of course today I grew tired of waiting on these to become available and purchased some translucent versaballs from Randy.

Now I'll have to buy both...

I am a bit confused as to what these will REALLY work on.

Happ super handles fit the reunion base.

P360 and Wico handles interchange.

So why WOULDN'T these work with Reunion bases or Wico bases? If it works with the Happ Super and the P360 then it should work with the Reunion stick and the Wico sticks as well.

Yet Christian says they don't work with Reunion or Wico. Is that because he didn't bother to try  (perhaps because he doesn't actually understand how the assorted joystick types are related). Or is there something in the design that makes it fit one base in a class, but not another? Sometimes that happens (the Super Handle fits the reunion base, but the reunion handle would need another eclip spot to fit the super base).

Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

You mention that they can be powered from the I-PAC. Would this still be true if you were already powering a Druin rotary board from it?

Unfortunately, there's no word on anything regarding these.  SlikStik announced them in February, and since then seems to have forgotten all about them.

Christian-

It's just that you haven't posted about them since Feb 28, and folks've been asking with no response.  I was kind of hoping the vaporware comment would scare you out of hiding.  ;)

At any rate, I'm very glad to hear they're not dead.

All,

We have developed a custom anti-twist system that allows the joysticks to move freely with no restrictions during game play but limits them from turning 360 degrees and are available for Happ Competition, Super, Ultimate & Optical joystick bases.

Are these balltops compatiable with the Happs 49-way joysticks?

Is the 49-way based on Competition, Super, Ultimate or Optical joystick bases?

i don't know about the rest of you guys with all this money, but i'm going old-skool and all my buttons will be unlit.  now before anyone says anything, i know that a few old games had lit buttons, but not any that i'm modeling my panels after.

so there will be at least one unlit panel in america...

JustMichael,

They will be up this week on the website; we are just completing the web page for them.

Scoobie,

Since the T-stick/plus has a screw in the end of the shaft, that disables our anti-twist system and they will not work like the other sticks. For that reason we will not be manufacturing our lighted sticks for them.

NY_in_TX,

The handles will retail for an introductory price of $29.95ea for 30 days, after that they will go up slightly.

They will also work with the many led driver boards that are being released. They can be wired directly into the driver boards just like the lighted buttons and be included in the attract mode or other lighting sequences that customers can program.

Do the handles come with wiring and LED's? Or are we responsible for figuring that out on our own?

AlanS17,

Yes they come with everything. The handles have a self contained LED and anti-twist system. Plug and Play, nothing more.

Before you make a blanket statement like that I should ask some questions to make sure your your handles are compatible with my LED controller.

Do you have a resistor in series with the light source? What ohms?

What is the maximum current your LED can take?

I don't anticipate any problems. I am indeed supporting lit joysticks in my software. There are some limitations of my hardware, however.

Limitation #1: Current is limited to 24 milliamps maximum.
Limitation #2: The total voltage drop over your LED and any resistor is limited to 4.4 volts maximum.

These limitations may limit the value of your series resistor if you have one. For example, let's say the voltage drop over your LED is 2.4 volts, a typical value. Limitation #2 says that the voltage drop over your resistor, therefore, is less than 2.0 volts:

Ohm's law says V=IR. Limitation #2 says IR<V, or (24 mA)R < 2.0.
Solving for R gives R< 83 ohms.

For larger LED voltage drops, the series resistor must be even lower. The ultrabright white LEDs I use drop 3.2 volts. This makes IR < 0.8 volts, or R < 33 ohms.

Buddabing,

  Thanks for the information. I have listed the LED info below;

We use super bright LEDs and have pre tested them at 2.0v - 3.5v / 20mA with no issues. The current setup in use uses a 100 ohm resistor which when tested on a 5v source provides more than enough power.

I did not name the exact led driver boards in my previous post, but if yours will not work with the above specs please let me know and I will exclude it from any forward statements.

Ok, the site says get ready to order them when they are released on 7/16/2005. I waited for 2 hours at 12:01 last night while getting my son the new Harry Potter book and the link to buy never showed up on the site.  Where are they?  I'm ready now!

At least there aren't 2,000 other people dressed in various arcade costumes waiting in line before me. Or maybe there are.....

SlikStik Christian,

Do the Multi Color Cycling joysticks cycle by themselves or do they need a driver board to cycle? Because I wanted to use a driver board to be able change the colors of each balltop to a different constant color according to what game I was playing. Like when I open up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blue, orange, purple, and red ball tops and buttons would be lit. Is this possible with the Multi Color Cycling joysticks?

SlikStik Christian,

Do the Multi Color Cycling joysticks cycle by themselves or do they need a driver board to cycle? Because I wanted to use a driver board to be able change the colors of each balltop to a different constant color according to what game I was playing. Like when I open up Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles blue, orange, purple, and red ball tops and buttons would be lit. Is this possible with the Multi Color Cycling joysticks?

g1275,

The multi-colored handles morph on their own, no driver board needed. It cannot be controlled. There is a led that will allow you to select colors but they are way too big in physical size for the application we use them for.

g1275,

Thank You

Christian

SlikStik Christian, could I make a suggestion?

You might want to think about making some sort of lighted mounting plate. Picture a 3"x6" plastic rectangular plate with 6 button holes. It would be white plastic and lighted by inserting LED's using Knievel's method (if you're not familiar I could elaborate). It would be held in place underneath the control panel by the buttons when they're screwed in.

It would provide a plug-and-play lighting method for buttons for anyone willing to use a Street Fighter layout (75% of all users), it would be cheaper than trying to develop individually lighted buttons, and would mean the user only has to wire up one thing instead of 12 or more.

This would give you the ability to offer customers a way to light their buttons so that they match your sticks. It would also give you a way to quickly offer lighted buttons on your own control panels.

I'll just ask for a sample of the finished product in exchange for my excellent idea.  ;) (I'm not getting my hopes up over it, though.)
