[asking this as a newbie] are people skilled enough to identify a board purely by looks? [/asking this as a newbie]

Tips would be handy, like any names or numbers silked on the board.

Like i said it is a jamma pcb theres no other inputs so all the hookups are from the jamma connector, it does have 2 boards there, im guessing the top pcb is the sound board,  ive got some more pictures but im having trouble posting them so i would have to email them , this is an odd board ive never seen before

This may be a silly question.. but since it's JAMMA have you plugged it up and seen what it is, or is this supposed to be a quessing game for fun and you already know what it is?

There has to be something written on it. Sometimes I've identified boards by looking at the little round numbered stickers that are on a series of the roms, then matching those numbers to Mame roms using MAWS.

There's no manufacturer or copyright notice on it? Not even a year?

Edit: BTW, I wasn't guessing; Lucky Wander Boy was meant to be a joke. I guess you haven't read the book.

As you can tell from the pic the roms have nothing marked , there is absolutly nothing marked on the pcb saying make model etc the only thing the top pcb says is

From the photo it looks like there's a lot of markings all over the roms. Even the processors say nothing?

Ah nuts. I was going to suggest a Smash TV bootleg. Oh well.

EDIT:

For anyone interested, there's an excellent collection of various PCB photos here:
http://arcadecollecting.xmission.com/pcbpics/index.html

And a MAWS deluxe search for games with whatever CPU you can find on the board is always good too.

You can find some nice "unknown" pcbs on ebay that turn out pretty sweet. I bought an unknown PCB that I figured out was a Mr.Do! for $12 before.
