Converting Ball top stick.
« on: February 22, 2005, 10:18:16 am »

Does anyone know if any of the various ball top sticks available have a hollow shaft?.

I was playing with the idea of cannibalising the little fire buttons from a couple of old Atari 2600 joysticks and drilling recesses to mount them in the top of a ball top joystick, and dropping a suitable 'prodder' down the shaft to a microswitch.

Alternatively does anyone know of anywhere that manufactures button topped sticks for sale?.

I didn't touch it....honest!

Read this thread in its entirety. I teach how to do it yourself. You just need to acquire a Wico Command Control joystick, and a Wico leafswitch arcade joystick base (black style).

Thanks Ray. That link seems to point me straight back to the main page though.

The currently shipping Prodigy Retro's have hollow stainless shafts.

Thanks a lot guys. Going to have a tinker and see what I can cobble together.

Didn't even think about old top fire sticks. I've got a large box of old peripherals and sticks in the loft. If I have anything suitable left over or if I find any extra ones Witch i'll pm you.
