FS/FT: red Mini Cab
« on: February 14, 2005, 09:16:32 am »
Some of you probably already read about the two mini cabs I picked up recently.  I am offering one up for sale just momentarily because I may be going to Washington DC this coming weekend, and thought it could be a convenient time for me to drop off the cabinet or trade it for something else.  If no one takes it by this weekend then I'm going to keep it.  I just have a lot of projects on my plate and figured this could be a convenient time to clear one off the list.

I'd like $150 for the cabinet itself, plus $25 for a pretty nice (nearly new) over-under coin door (if needed - I will keep it otherwise).

Description:

It is brand new (may be a few years old, however), never had a hole cut in the panels, no locks or coin doors fitted, etc.  They are made really slick, set up to take plexi and the speaker panel and the CP hold it in, so no visible fasteners are needed. (CP has two latches underneath like standard CP's).  They have cheesy gold T-molding that still has the protective blue plastic attached.

Since getting these, I have discovered a few things about them.

First, the largest monitor you can probably fit in it is 17".  That is what I put in the other one, it is close to the glass and I had to mildly modify the back door to fit the neckboard.  Due to the proportions of the cabinet, a horizontal monitor would look best.

Second, there is a really nice board shelf that slides in and out from the back.  This made mounting a caseless PC really easy.  I can disconnect the ground and power cord and just slide the whole thing out, and plug it in elsewhere, remove parts, whatever.  Very slick!

Third.  This is really meant for kids.  If you think you want to build it to have a neat mini for your dorm room or what not, you won't like this.  It is meant to be played by a standing child.  Even with a short stool, it is really not comfortable for an adult.  My legs are in the way when I try to play it like this.  I built a TMNT/Simpsons switchable game basically just for all the 6 and under kids in my family.

I have already set up one of these so there is no choice between which one you get.  The above pictures aren't very detailed though, so if you are seriously interested and live in DC (or on the WAY to DC from Charleston, WV) then I will send more detailed pictures through email.  I can also send pictures of my almost completed one if you'd like ideas or want to see what it would look like finished.

Email wadelanham at hotmail.com for quickest response.

Thanks,
Wade
