When did Namco Classics V. 1 get sound?
« on: February 13, 2005, 02:51:29 am »
I'm in the process of rolling back my mame setup because my PC is too slow for the newest builds.   I'm almost all the way back to .55 (except for some roms that have changed and I can't seem to find) but I just realized that Namco Classics V1 has no sound in .55

According to MAWS the last changes were .53 and .71.  But it also lists "Add sound/samples" on the ToDo list.

Also, this page here from Wednesday, September 29th, 2004 that says "Wanna see some purdy pictures? Full sound and all that on the Namco Classics collection! Way to go!!"  This implies that it was only recently added.

Anybody know off the tops of their heads?  Was this a recent development?

Just for grins I downloaded and tried .71 to see if it had sound (I tried both Win32 and cmd-line, just in case) and no dice.

It's fairly recent, within ten versions or so.  Try .92.

The sound is still buggy even  in .92, i.e. grab a powerup in digdug arrangement and the end of the sample never stops playing.
