Key mapping problem for player 1
« on: February 11, 2005, 04:06:41 pm »
Hello.

I have an IPAC-4 (non USB) and four player controls (players 1-2 have 7 buttons, 3-4 have 4) in my CP. I've been having problems with the player one controls.

The keys are mapped to the defaults in the IPAC (UP,DOWN,LEFT,RIGHT,LCTRL,LALT,SPACE) and in MAME. What happens is one of two things:
1. Pressing button 2 triggers both buttons 2 and 3 inputs.
2. Moving the stick in a circle doesn't trigger all 4 of the inputs. It usually leaves off two opposing directions.

Now. I doublechecked my wiring to make sure all was ok, and it is. I was also able to duplicate problem #2 using the arrow keys on the keyboard as well.

Any thoughts? My initial thought was that problem #1 may be caused by the ALT key being a special modifier key, and problem #2 may be caused by windows interpreting the arrow key inputs differently than the other inputs. I really have no idea though.

I just spoke with a friend who is also building a MAME cab, and he said he's experiencing the same problem.

Thanks in advance.
