Failed RedOctane XBOX Control Panel
« on: February 07, 2005, 10:47:55 pm »
In 2004 I picked up several XBOX fighter control panels that were on sale from redoctane similar to this model....

http://www.redoctane.com/redoctanearcadestick.html

I replaced the stick and buttons with parts from Happs, added a USB convertor, and gave as gifts to my GF's kids and my nephews.

Now I have 2 of the 4 which have buttons 1-6 that have failed. Upon inspection, I can see no obvious component failure on the XBOX PCB inside the box but there  appears to be a white film formed on some areas of the PCB itself.

I guess I am faced with needing to replace these PCBs with something, hacked XBOX or perhaps PS2 controllers are probably the obvious choice but if PS2 then will need to also replace the USB convertors.

Any suggestions?
