What value for volume pot?
« on: February 07, 2005, 05:01:12 pm »
Is there a typical value to use for an audio taper potentiometer? For instance in making a remote pot to attatch to a pcb for a set of computer speakers.  I see they come in 1K, 5K, 10K, 50K, 100K, 500K, and 1M ohm versions.  What would the advantage be to using one over the other?

100K would be typical, I think.

10K is the general value for all/most (volume) audio equipment, and of course it is a LOG type not Linear.

I use a dual 10K log pot in my machine. Works well. Remember if you have stereo, you need a dual gang pot.
I love the life I lead. I wish I could afford it.
