Hmm...not sure that game is worth putting in a cabinet (wasn't even a real arcade release)...but to each his own! ;D

The MGCD should be self explanitory.  Search google for MGCD game compatibility list and dip switch settings.  I doubt Jedi Power Battles is on the list though since MGCD is mostly used for Naomi ports.

You will most likely have to set it up in one of the generic time/credit modes.

Hmm, this is going to be difficult to explain.  The MGCD will allow you to play almost every game, but there are limitations.  First limitation is number of supported buttons.  The Jamma spec calls for only 3 fire buttons and one start button per player.  The MGCD is supposed to give you 2 extra buttons but your cab needs to be wired for it.  Second limitation is play mode...this is what I was refering to before.  There are two types of play modes, the first is 1 credit per life, but this is only supported for Naomi ports only (you'd have to refer to the list of games for this mode of operation).  The second mode is credits per time.  This lets you stick any game in the DC, and it will only play for as long as the timer says...to increase the time, you increase more coins...pretty lame if you ask me.

Anyway, you can read about one other persons use of MGCD here: http://www.hehehe.org/

The MGCD is a quick way for a novice person to get a DC into their Jamma compatible cab, but at several limitations (as mentioned perviously).  But most find it cheaper to just hack the pads and a DC VGA box themselves and not have the time/credit or number of button limitations.

ok, so lemme see... your saying 1 credit per life kinda thing is for games like Marvel Vs Capcon, and Power stone stuff.... where as Time will support any game, but gives you a certain time to play until it shuts off...

I guess that makes sense... but what i dont get now is, If its wired for 3 buttons plus a start, per player... how would I  get the other Buttons to work?
like the re-wiring diagrams?

Yeah, except that neither Marvel vs Capcom, nor Power Stones are supported under the compatibility list for the Life/Round per credit option.

You'd have to wire pins 25,26,27,28 from the jamma connector to the extra buttons.  As per the link I gave you above:

Yes, essentially you will need a custom kick harness if you want to use all the Dreamcast buttons...or you could try ot hack the one you have.  Its either that or live with 3 fire buttons per player.  Sorry.

Yes rewire if your kickharness uses those pins, or solder new wires to the jamma connector.

Just so this info is listed in multiple threads on the board (easier to find if needed at a later date)

Here is the pinout for the additional buttons on a MGCD

A4 - Y Button
A5 - Left Trigger
A6 - Right Trigger

Hope it helps,
