External Sound Controls
« on: February 03, 2005, 03:28:37 pm »
I did a search and couldn't find any messages that dealt with this subject.

I'm building a bartop arcade unit for my roomate who is getting married, and I want to have a dial on the outside of the case so he can adjust the sound volume.  What have other people done in this scenario?  What type of amplifier do you use and how do you hook it up to a dial.

Something I could use would be computer speakers receiver board inside the control one but the problem is that the dial is directly attached to the daughterboard and won't fit through 3/4 inch MDF.

Any Ideas?

I removed the original speaker and mounted a pair of gutted computer speakers in it's place. I desoldered the volume control and relocated it on a metal plate that I mounted behind a hole in the top of the cab so I can reach up and adjust the volume when needed.
