Cooling fans for a bartop??
« on: February 01, 2005, 10:34:47 am »
Hello I have searched for a little bit and have found nothing so I'll just ask here...

I am currently building a slightly modified version of Oscar's happy hour bartop.

So do I just want to stick with case cooling fans with internal chassis mounting??

its a matter of taste.  Some like teh small quiet fans, i didnt care personally.  I just put some metal fan covers over the holes and used standard case fans

ok I see, I was really just wondering about the mounting more than anything.  Like the model I put from best but, all I would have to do it seems would be to cut the holes for the fans, then screw them on the inside of the cabinet, then put metal fan covers over the outside of the hole.  I guess I was really just looking for the "standard" fan used in cabs.

Get a PCAC.  I got mine for like $15 or so shipped.   In a computer it fits in a standard 5.25" bay.  It moves around 250cfm and is whisper quiet.

I built a bartop too :)

80mm fans (the PC standard size) are 3", so use a 3" hole saw, and wire the fans to the 5V on your computer's molex power line (5V is red, and black is ground)

5V is nice and quiet, 2 fans @ 5V will provide adequate cooling without making a distracting noise

have the fans exhausting out

Groovy?
