Good Headphones - Creative Zen micro MP3 player?
« on: January 31, 2005, 08:17:15 am »
Can anyone suggest a good pair of headphones for the Creative Zen micro MP3 player? How does one determine the right headphones, db etc? Preferably, not the in ear type.

Shure makes some good ones, Koss, Sennheiser....those are some good brand names.  It'll all depend on your preferences.  What someone likes, you may not.  For instance, you prefer OVER the ear instead of IN the ear, while others are just the opposite, and SWEAR by 'em.

Start with some reputable manufacturers, then give 'em a listen.

If you'd like the opinions of an audiophile group, head on over to www.hydrogenaudio.com and look for this subject.  It's been brought up a few times, and you'll get a few different responses, and they'll also give some general prices. For more specifics, and possible good deals (they've got a Sennheiser set for fairly cheap on the front page right now) go tool on over to www.headphones.com

If you're looking for honest-to-goodness GOOD headphones, prepare to spend somewhere in the $100-200 PLUS range.  If that's too pricy for you, seriously, go to Wal-Mart or Best Buy.  Not ripping on you or anything, but the difference between the two types is staggering, and the price difference will show it.  BTW, the "second" type (i.e. expensive audiophile type) is further split up into further "types", but for purposes of THIS illustration, "two types" is good enough for an explanation.

You’re always in control of your behavior. Sometimes you just control yourself
in ways that you later wish you hadn’t

I have some Sennheiser's that I use with my iRiver H320, and I love them.
