Hey man, if you want to do it, go ahead... personally, I'm not as interested in going that far into a design for a couple specific games that aren't my main targets.

I have the clear answer for the vertical or horizontal issue:

Use the super rare 25" vector monitor mounted horizontaly. Then, veritical games will still be the right size and horizontal games will be HUGE!

Only real problem I see is tracking down that 25"er... I know of one...

Eh? It's not that hard. Anyway, building one with that 25" would be going far enough that I'd build a whole new cabinet and design for it. I don't have a 25", don't anticipate getting one...

you could probably buy two complete working 19" color xy monitors for as much as that one 25" one would cost you in nonworking condition. Just the 25" Monitor in a star wars cockpit increases the value by approx. 800 to 1,000.00, they are very rare and very pricey to the right people.

It's true... you're better off getting just a chassis and putting your own tube in it if you want a large vector.

I think I read somewhere that this will not work, but I really have no idea. Sadly I have the money to spend on this, but not the skill nor time. I really will buy one if yours turns out nice!

I have a really nice Electrohome G08CBO XY monitor for sale. It came out
of a Sega Space Fury with less than 3000 plays on it. The monitor is in
great shape, no burn in at all. I had the game working for a couple of
seconds (board problems) and got garbage on the screen of the monitor so I
think it will work, but this was a year or so ago. I'm selling this as
untested as I don't have anything to try it with now. It has no burned
chips or spots on the boards as you can see from the pictures.

Asking $225 including shipping. It will be well packed, and I use
plywood in the box to make sure it is not crushed. Monitor is located in
West Monroe, Louisiana if anyone wants to pick it up. I need the money for

Y'know - though I would loose the ability to use a mirror and thus the underlays, a vector mame cocktail has alot of possibilites.

i personally think you would be better of with a WG6100, there are more out there, more parts, more tech help to repair etc., the GO8's were notorious for starting on fire without notice, i dont think i would want one in my house.

I remember seeing faqs and instructions for upgrading these things to mitigate the "burst into flames issue." Google should get you there.

The problem, as has been stated, with the 25" monitor isn't the building but the finding. I won't have time to build custom vector monitors for a long time, and the 25" monitor is incredibly rare AND worth nearly a grand.
