Sanwa buttons & joysticks in UK.
« on: January 28, 2005, 12:15:51 pm »
Can anyone help me?

Where's the best/cheapest place to get Sanwa buttons, joysticks (not j-stick) and accessories (such as the octagonal restrictors, the optical flash thingies, and replacment ball tops) to the UK???

Thanks ;D

Not sure off the top of my head, but I threw together a quick list arcade parts suppliers in the UK.

You can see it here:

Feel free to pass on any others you may find..... (emails on the webpage)

 ;D Thanks mr Shoes,

Yeah i've heard alot of people recommend Rod at Himura games, but he doesnt seem to have that much stuff, for example the flash optical sticks and orange balls and buttons. Do you know if he can get them?

It might be worth trying Suzo. A lot of the stuff they sell is not listed in their catalogue. I bought some Seimitsu joysticks from them which are similar to (but not quite as good as) Sanwas.

Don't say you're after Sanwa joysticks though, as the salesman may not know what you mean. Just say you're after the type of joysticks fitted to Sega Naomi machines.

Sanwa stoped making the Flash Sticks so they were/are in limited supply.  Send Rod an email and ask if he has any left.  Or if he has any of the HS-ASSY's left.  If you can't get the flash sticks the sanwa microswitched sticks are still really good great sticks too.  Really the only difference in them is that the flash sticks feel a little smoother and are less noisy.

Yeah i know, the flash sticks have been discontiued :'(, that is why i've been searching around like crazy and posting threads on forums here there and everywhere trying to find some, but so far no luck.
I sent rod a couple of emails yesterday, but no reply yet. i guess i'm just being impatient, but i desperatly want one of these sticks (before they're completly gone), i think the fact that they're in limited supply probably makes me want one even more :).
This is going to sound really cheeky....but it would be really great if you (and anyone else) could keep an eye out for one of these sticks, and pm or email me if you come accross one? I would be sooooo greatfull ;D.

*edit* Spiffyshoes, do you remember those joysticks i showed you, and you said they were HAPP Supers but had a converter on them, making them p360's? Well a friend of mine has desided to get them, and he wanted to get the slikstik metal stick add-ons (http://www.slikstik.com/SearchResult.aspx?CategoryID=6), but which ones would he have to get? The ones for the super or the p360?

Thanks again ;)

I've just got an email back off "arcade rick", and they said that they can order them in (dunno where they're gonna order them from ???), i also came accross this guy (http://www.shoryuken.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2094975#post2094975).
But i've still not heard anything from Rod, i realise he's probably hella busy or somthing, but i would rather get stuff of him 'cos everybody goes on about how great he is. I've sent two emails, to two different addresses (requests and sales), PM'd him, and left messages on his forum. I just wanna know if he's got any in or not, so i can contact arcaderick or the stanman from shoryuken.
So if anybody knows rod personally, tell him to read his emails ;D.

You would probably want the ones for Happ Supers.

I'll keep my eyes open and if I see some I'll let you know.  I doubt rod is completely out though.  He probably has a ton of the HS-ASSY conversion kits left if nothign else because I doubt hardly any one ordered them.  They were so expensive you might as well have just payed the extra $10 dollars to get the complete Flash stick and had 2 sanwa sticks instead of 1 with extra parts.

Thanks!

I'm not that bothered about paying a bit extra for the conversion kit + a standard sanwa if thats all he's got left, i just want him to reply so i know either way. Does he usually take a while to answer emails and PM's and stuff?

Some times it takes him a few days to get back to people.  He has a dayjob Himuragames is just something he does to try and help people out.  I don't really think he makes much if any profit off of selling the sanwa parts.

Good for you Hakari. Always feels good to get the last one of whatever. 8) Let us know how it feels performance wise compared to other sticks you've used. I've never had one of those to try so I'm curious to know if they're similar to the Happ P-360'S.

Okey-dokey! ;D

Another question, is the flash stick similar to a p360? what i mean is, does it still need the 5v? and if so, does anyone know where i can get 5v from on this?

http://www.ciao.co.uk/Logic_3_Arcade_Stick__5433700

I plan on doing something like what these guys have done,

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/jdpyle1/controls.htm

so i can use all my consoles through the same joystick, using seperate console.........................thingies (what J&D have done).

Yes they require a +5v power just like a Happ P360.  After all the optical sensors for them were made by the same company that makes the ones for Happ and Wico.  I haven't ever really hacked an X-Box pad and am not sure where the +5v is exactly.

I've always just hacked a playstation controller and then used converters to use them on my other consoles.

Ooooh looking at those buttons on the Himura site, I can tell you that I have about 6 spare buttons that came off a Virtua Fighter Super Megalo cabinet (I think) anyway I have about 3 green and 3 pink. I am from the UK so I don't know if your interested in them. I havent tested them and don't really have a means right now. Just drop me a PM email and I can get back to you?
