NFL Blitz 4 player cab for $250??
« on: January 27, 2005, 07:47:38 pm »

So I finally got a phone call today from the guy at golf N stuff here in tucson, arizona about looking at cabinets for me.

He said he had a gutted nfl blitz four player cab, which he said was built very sturdy and whatnot..

Just wondering if this is a good price for a four player cab, and is it worth trying to mame???

I have a very small trailer, so i'm sure this wouldn't fit in my room, so if I do buy it, I might end up putting it in a friends storage shed for a while....

Just wondering about everyone's two cents on this one...

thanks again

matthew

Sweet, I might just have to pick this baby up for a future project

I asked him if I could check it out before I bought it, he said it was in his warehouse with a bunch of other games, and that it would be a hassle....

So I don't know if I should just trust the guy or not, he is like the main dude at golf N stuff so I dunno...

But for that price even a n00b like me thought it was a steal!!!

Thanks again for the info SNAAKE!!!

Ouch, I see....

So GGKoul, by any chance do you know of anywhere on the west coast (preferably Arizona) that sells cabs for cheaper??

If so I'll love you forever..

Gutted usually means just wood.  If it included a working monitor/coin door/controls that would be a slammin' deal tho. Offer him a $50.  ;D

I thought by gutted it meant everything but the monitor and gameboard. The monitor could be there too but a medium res monitor is useless.I say you go take a look at it.If controls, marquee, monitor glass and everything is there then take it.If "nothing but the wood" then offer him like $100.He cant do much with a wood box anyway so he WILL sell it.

I agree with the others.  If it's truly gutted - ie just wood - offer him $50.  If he wants more, walk away.  I mean, litereally, just turn, don't say a work, and walk out.

Now if it's got a monitor, etc, snap that puppy up!

One last thing to add...

How does the artwork look?  If you like the LOOK of the cabinet with the artwork.  Add an additional 50 bucks to it.

$100 bucks for a purely gutted cabinet with near perfect artwork / bezel IS worth it ($150 - $200 is probably fair also)

Those are items that can cost a lot later...

But for a painted black cabinet.  Your talking 3 4x8s, some screws, some glue, some paint and a weekend.... And you will end up with one that fits in your room!

Thanks for everyone's help, I'll call him today to ask about the artwork, what it actually comes with....etc.  It just sucks I had to talk to him from work yesterday, especially since I work in a restauraunt, where it's noisy as all hell!!

And to Lilwolf,  I forget who gave me the website, I want to say GGKoul or neomartin, I'd have to check earlier threads, but he gave me the website to the happy hour bartop.  And once I picked up Project Arcade from borders and saw the picture in it of the bartop, I immediately got on the phone to my friend who is fairly decent with woodworking, electrics, etc. (he converted his MK2 machine into a sega genesis and sega cd) if he'd help me build it.

So far we really just printed out the plans, measured my monitor which is about 2 inches bigger than the monitor used in the project.  Then we measured and cut out the side panel for it, brang it over to my house and put it up next to the monitor, it looks like we'll have to add about 2 or 3 inches in depth to the bartop, to fit my ViewSonic UltraBrite A70f+.

He said the same thing about planning and whatnot, he said once we plan it out, buy some nice wood ( we were just using plywood in his back yard, slightly damaged) get all the measurements + tools ready, he said it could take as little as 2-5 hours to construct.

So I'm definitely on my way to building a bartop, just need to research what the best wood to use is, if a six button street fighter setup for a bartop is a little too outrageous..

But thanks for everyone's help!!  I'll have to post some pictures after we really start making some progress!!!

Thanks again everyone!!!

Matthew

Sorry to steal this thread, but what are working boards worth from one of the blitz 99 four player cabs? (Didn't know if they are all 4 player)
