button labels??
« on: January 20, 2005, 10:28:51 am »
Has anyone found a good way to label or mark the buttons on the cp,most buttons don't need marked but I'm planning to have a couple pause, quit ect buttons on the cp and would like to clearly label them.I'm looking for something that will hold up under use.Anyone know if the button protectors Happ sells are hard plastic or soft rubber covers and if they work only on happ buttons or will they fit others like the ultimarc buttons?

I think those are the exact same pushbuttons, but i might be wrong...
Also, are you talking about sticking labels on top of the buttons, or next to them?
If next to them, then just place the labels on the CPO...
If you want the labels on top, i think i saw something at happs for "normal" pushbuttons... Otherwise you could just use "label printer paper" (or whatever they're called)...
But that wouldn't look that good... :(
I had a cool sig once... But it had to go because of *someone*... You know who you are!

Custom labeled buttons in 3 easy steps!

1. put a piece of scotch tape on the button
2. cut out desired patern (hint, you can print on scotch tape)
3. spray with a product called vinyl dye available at most auto supply stores and even wal*mart!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

I just made Quit a red button (like Stop) and Pause an orange button (almost Stop).  And Coin Green buttons (Go or the color of money).  Worked for me.

Use illuminated pushbuttons.

Why don't you just make an control panel overlay graphic and put it under some lexan?  Take a look at my website for an example with my cabinet.
