Happs Competition Pushbuttons?
« on: October 15, 2002, 02:25:07 am »
What are the pros/cons of the Happs competition pushbuttons (convex) and their standard pushbuttons (concave) ???

I've used the standard, but was curious about the convex tops of the competitions. :)

They have a very short distance from neutral position to pushed position. It makes combos etc in capcom games easier to pull off. I was reluctant to go for the competition ones at first, because I loved the feel of the horizontal pushbutton ones, but after trying them out.........I could never go back (well for fighting games anyway, for mame projects I would go for the concave, just for looks)

Happs competition pushbuttons are reallllllllllllly good for fighting games, the short distance, light spring, and rounded top really help for incredibly fast button pushing.  I went with the happs horizontal pushbuttons on my mame cabinet, and I'm happy with em, but as I look back I think I might have gone with competitions if I knew they were as good as they are.  Well if you're an old-school freak, then definitely go with the horizontals, but if you're into fighters and newer shooters (Mars Matrix, Ikaruga, Bangai-O, etc.) go with the competitions.
