I'm using a Toshiba 27" (27A33) television as my arcade monitor and up until now I've only used S-VIDEO to connect my PC to the TV.  Now I plan to add a Dreamcast and this complicates things.

Normally I would add my Dreamcast to the "Video 2" jacks, but my TV is covered by my bezel so I can't use the remote control to switch between inputs.  This is the problem.

I've thought about buying an svideo input selector (from Walmart) but these seem to run at least $25 so I'm trying to avoid spending that...

Is there any other way to hookup both the DC and PC and have it switch between them without me using a remote?  Can I perhaps build something? :)

  • I want to build my own arcade controls!
You can find a cheaper video selector on ebay I guess, but if you're looking for a free way to do it and can't spring $25 it probably won't happen.

Your best bet might be to drill a tiny hole through the bezel.... it would be so small no one would notice.

  • Um....whats a cabinet
you could rig the remote inside teh cab, externally wire teh buttons that change video modes and mount the buttons.  Youd still have to change batteries though.

Beware  of those video switchers. I bought one off ebay for the same purpose, and the SVideo quality was SO BAD! I just stuck with using the regular RCA on the back of the tv for the DC.
