trackball mounting questions
« on: January 06, 2005, 09:56:52 am »
Okay, I have a trackball from an old centiped machine and bought the proper size mounting plate from Bob Roberts.

There are holes in the trackball body that line up with holes in the mounting plate, and there are also holes in the plate to attach to the CP. My question is, what kind of bolts am I supposed to use for these two places?

I was assuming I'd be able to sink the mounting plate flush with the top of the CP so my overlay would cover it, but I can't think of any bolts to use where the heads wouldn't stick up past that (the holes are square for some reason).

Has anyone used anything in this instance that mounted flush?

thanks!

To mount with nothing protruding from the top you need the kind that has the bolts attached already like these:

You could try using a counter sink and some counter sunk bolts to get them flush.  Though I don't know how well counter sinking would work on a metal plate.

I've seen a couple recent examples here where the builder routered out material so the TB plate was flush with the top of the panel, so that would be an option.
