I-Pac problem...maybe
« on: October 11, 2002, 03:50:21 pm »
I am having some problems configuring mame using my i-pac.  It seems that whenever I try to config any button to use alt or shirt keys things get all screwy.  For some reason the left and right alt and shift keys act the same.  And when I configure mame to use one of these buttons it expects both to be pressed at the same time!!!  Arg this is very frustrating as I can't play any game that isn't set up to the default.  I haven't changed any of the i-pac setting and the jumped hasn't been moving from the mame setting.  Can anyone help me?  Thanks in advance.

I've had this problem, and it was actually a problem with MAME and not the ipac (I don't think).  It seems to happen after you pause the game and then try to configure.  Enter shows up as "Enter Keypad Enter", Shift shows up as "Left Shift Right Shift", etc.  It happens quite often when pausing/configing in MAME so I think it's a bug.

The way I get around this is by starting up a game and just configuring the controls without pausing.  Once this problem starts happening, it won't go away until you quit out and restart the game.

There is another way around it, don't setup the controls in mame, set them up in the ctrlr folder (windows only).
