will a 27" monitor fit in a mortal kombat cabinet
« on: December 21, 2004, 09:27:57 pm »
Does anyone know if a 27" monitor, specifically the betson imperial will fit in a mortal kombat cabinet. The cabinet is in pretty bad shape and im not sure if its from I, II, III, or 4 but they should all be the same size. Im thinking of getting it its a great deal but I only want it if I can get a new monitor in it.

I can say yes with 95% certainty (unless the original Mortal Kombat used a 19" monitor, AND used a smaller cabinet because of it)

If you have a real actual mortal combat cabinet (any version) then the answer is yes. But if you have a cabinet that was originally something else, well that depends.

Ok, I'm not sure why everyone is saying yes so quickly here.  What I don't think they are saying is that you still need to do some work here (its not a drop in replacement).

I have a Midway 4-player cab with 25" monitor in it right now.  The monitor mounting hole spacing in the cab is NOT the same as the Betson Impreial (its smaller for the 25" monitor).  The Betson monitor looks like it may physically fit in the cab (just barley on the sides), but you would definately have to drill new holes in the metal brackets.  It also looks like you will have to custom cut a 27" bezel to make it fit your cab (unless you don't mind using the original bezel and squishing the picture down to 25").

what is the actual dimension between the sides of these cabinets? Ive also found out that it was not a mortal kombat cabinet it was a game called sol divide. The cabinet looks identical to a MkII is it the same size?

actually the front of the cabinet angles out in the front like one of the MKI cabinets. I was mistaken I thought the MKII cabinets did that. Im not really worried about needing to redrill or even replace or make new brackets for the monitor I just want to know if it will fit between the sides and  I will still be able to use a 27" bezel and not have it look terrible. Anyone who has a pic of this I would appreciate a link.

Measure your monitor bay, report the measurements back here. If the monitor will fit, then the bezel will fit.

Once again, measure your monitor bay and report back here. I have arcade monitors in 13", 19", 23", 25" 27" and 29" sizes, so I will be able to tell you the largest that will fit.
